After moving to NYC in 2007 with degrees in both business and art she needed a creative outlet to put her artistic talents to use. With lack of space she opted to use her kitchen as a studio by using cake, cookies and other desserts as her medium. She discovered the fun and excitement in making edible art and it quickly became her passion. Her love of art and baking helped turn her dreams into a reality and with that she launched her company THE DESSERTIST.
THE DESSERTIST has since then become a well recognized name and Sam has become a notable Artistic Pastry Chef with a growing list of cliental across the country. Her ability to create customized, one-of-a-kind desserts have captured the eye of many giving her the privilege to create pieces for notable chefs and celebrities. As the brand expanded, Sam has become the voice within the culinary industry and not only inspires but also educates her followers. She heads a culinary column for an NYC magazine for women and is also working on her first cook book.
Her unique approach to desserts in both flavor and design have gained her recognition within the culinary and design worlds. In 2013 she was named one of the “Most Successful in Business Under 30, awarded the honor of “Most Innovative Chef of 2014″, was a featured chef at multiple food festivals and last fall was named a Food Network Featured Chef.
When she is not in the kitchen inventing new desserts she dedicates her time to charity. She is a Chef Ambassador for Cookies for Kids Cancer, an NYC chef and educator for No Kid Hungry and will soon be a chef demonstrator and teacher with City Harvest and their Nutritional Education Program.
THE DESSERTIST is available to create custom confections for any event of any size. From personal private parties to large galas and conventions, no order is too big or small.
